SABRINA HOGAN
Sabrina Hogan is a Canadian-Certified Counsellor (C.C.C.) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association and a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. Sabrina is passionate about helping people find ways to enhance their day-to-day living and navigate through stressors. Her passion for guiding others started at a young age when she found that her friends and family often came to her for advice with trust and openness. She realized that she wanted to pursue a path that involved helping people by providing them with the pathway, tools, and words of encouragement to do so. Sabrina, too, understands what it is like to face adversities and to find resilience in the hardest of situations. She believes that our perception of how we perceive the events in our lives and how to move forward plays an integral role in the way one's life proceeds.
Education-wise, Sabrina initially achieved her 4-year Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology and then pursued a Bachelor of Education specializing in Early Years. She became an elementary classroom teacher and then quickly became a school counsellor for all grade levels (K-12). She then decided that she wanted to further her education and achieved her Master of Education specializing in Counselling Psychology. Sabrina also has volunteering experience working as a crisis counsellor with Klinic along with experience in providing counselling therapy to clients.
Sabrina works with children, teenagers and adults (both individuals and couples.) She has a dedicated interest in helping those who have gone through trauma, struggle with emotional regulation or anxiety/depression, or have experienced relationship hardships. Her therapeutic approach focuses on using a person-centered lens while also considering cognitive and dialectical behavioural approaches, or solution-focused approaches if it fits the situation. In one of Sabrina's practicum placements, she learned the use of geek therapy techniques which can be very valuable for children and teenagers, specifically. Sabrina also enjoys using play therapy and expressive arts therapy with children and teens to help them communicate their situations uniquely. She looks forward to helping clients in a therapeutic relationship to overcome hardships, discover one's potential, and navigate through the stressors of everyday life.
